From MB last album.
This album gives a vivid live taste.
And, this is the first tune in "Pilgrimage".
Through the MB solo, I feed splendid dialogue among MB .vs. 4 back musicians.
Maybe there are some punch-ins after the take, I guess all 5 members recorded
basic track at once.
Anyway, anyway, MB solo.
MB starts with non-diatonic scale, as diminish, chromatic.
After making a suspended attitude by them, toward the accent point, he
changes the scale to distonic, which gives the stable air,
For general players (like myself), playing non-diatonic phrases is not
easy.
Not only because of the fingering simply, but also because of "singing"
such phrases.
Also, there are some typical MB phrases in which he changes the scale in
a short term, even in a bar.
The tone of altissimo is stable and so round (not peaky) -- for me, this
is the most wow!
After all, this solo impresses me the greatness of MB.
