Kazumi Watanabe is a splendid Japanese guitar player.
In the 1980's, he recorded a couple of albums with N.Y. top musicians including
MB.
This is one of such tracks. Personnel is super
Kazumi Watanabe (g.)
Michael Brecker (T.Sax)
Warren Bernhardt (p)
Tony Levin (elec.bass-fletless)
Peter Erskine (drums)
Some Japanese fans say this is one of the MB's best solo.
Solo starts with Key of A, and soon is changed to on Am (B->Bm on Bb-key)
based simple repeated chords.
There are various MB style phrases, -- out of scale, high speed sequence,
altissimo shout, fortessimo blow.
I've heard MB solo actually continued nealy 20 min at this recording.
BUT, it fades-out just in the middle of MB's solo. 100% regrettable.
Anyway, after I listened to this ad-lib, I put my guitar in the closet,
and went to sax shop.
CD is difficult to get now, but download purchase is available.
Absolutely recommend.
